THE RIVERLINE FRIENDRAISER

Our first Friendraiser event was a success!

For years, The Riverline in Buffalo has been an idea. Now, we expect to see the first phase of The Riverline under construction in 2025.

To provide a glimpse of what The Riverline can become, we held our first Friendraiser event on May 8th at the Buffalo Bar & Grille. The event aimed to widen support for The Riverline, and give us an example of how to turn a space formerly inaccessible to the public into a place of refuge welcoming to all; a place connecting people to nature and the waterfront, the history and character of the area, and one another.

We were pleased to host featured guests Robert McKaye, Senior Manager of Planning and Design, and Josh Harskamp, Design Manager, from The Bentway in Toronto. This is a fantastic project working to transform the space underneath the Gardiner Expressway, the major highway through the city center that divides Toronto's lakefront from its downtown. Rob and Josh gave inspiring presentations to show how the Bentway is turning this urban "highway obstacle" into a destination and place of connection, an area created for people that includes public art, recreational opportunities, dynamic public events, and areas for quiet contemplation.

Special thanks to the Buffalo Bar & Grille for hosting us and to all who attended!

We look forward to holding more Friendraiser events in the future and building our networks of support for The Riverline.
